Reflections on CRE's 13th Annual House Party

by Anne Hess, CRE Board Member - My husband Craig and I hosted CRE’s 13th Annual House Party fundraiser last month.  Several of our clients spoke eloquently about the work CRE had done for them and the impact it had on their organizations.  One speaker, Udai Tambar, of South Asian Youth Action (SAYA!) described CRE in a way that I would like to share.  Udai talked about the “Three T’s” that characterized his relationship with CRE – Trust, Temperament and Talent.    Read more >>

Deadline Day

By Maria Mottola, Executive Director, New York Foundation - About 16 years ago I sat in the back of an auditorium listening to a panel of foundation executives give grantseekers advice about submitting proposals. by Richard A. Brown, Vice President, American Express Philanthropy - Today's emerging leaders are the best educated, the most diverse and the most technologically savvy generation in our nation's history. Generation Xers & Yers are committed to serving in the nonprofit sector, are passionate about the mission-driven organizations where they work, and many have been actively serving in the sector as community volunteers since a very young age.  Their commitment to "do something" is evident in the associations they have created to organize themselves, the organizations they have established to tackle intractable social issues, and the hard won achievements they have secured supporting established nonprofit organizations.    Read more >>
